EmPowered Devices is based in Bedfordshire, UK. A small organisation that provide a range of services and products specialising in embedded software development and improvement as well as machine connectivity solutions. Software development focus areas are low power designs, software improvement, platform provision and training.
How we work
As a small organisation we focus on the client, use key skills and provide a determined, bespoke service that can be trusted for the right solution delivered in a timely and effective manner.
We recognise that our clients' business needs are unique and that we need to fit into their business
requirements. As a result we would normally start with a work requirement overview so that we can provide
estimates of the time required for the work and a plan for carrying it out.
We would normally divide the
work into planned stages for which specific outcomes are expected. This allows our clients to have a proper
view of the work needed and allows us to provide clients with a measured and controlled service.
Partners
For both EmPowered Devices and clients, partnerships with vendors are very important to the functioning of our work. They provide the tools that we work with, the components and materials that make up every product, manufacturing and even market access.
We aim to work closely in partnership with suppliers of equipment and services in our field so that we have fast access to information about new products and key support. For clients it means they can be reassured that they are dealing with the right people as well as not having to 'manage' service integration.

Who are we
To get to know who we are, profiles here will put some background on EmPowered Devices as well as insight to the voice on the telephone or words on an email.
Edward Gibbins
Edward is the founder of EmPowered Devices. His background includes running the UK based operations of one of the most popular names in the embedded tools industry and research and development in measurement and test equipment, calibration and process industry tools. With this expertise in the process and development of embedded software as well as machine interfaces he had a natural interest in improving performance and communication of machines with embedded systems, to make them work harder and smarter. With an interest in electronics and computing from a young age he spent some time studying computer sciences and then obtained a first class honours BSc Electronics Engineering Degree. His skills in product development led him to work in the field of embedded software and become involved in the generation of products containing 32 bit controller made affordable via ARM cores and to his running the UK team for IAR Systems
Although he revels in the detail of products and is always keen to roll up the sleeves plug in a soldering iron and tweak linker scripts. Edward strives to keep EmPowered Devices focussed on not just the technologies of embedded software and communication products but also on training and aiding team and development management to successful outcomes.
When not working Edward can be found at depth studying underwater coral, aided by compressed air cylinders! or bicycling across off road terrain in the countryside, with a different vista than the PC.
